Our Furry Friends

Hi---hope you're doing well this week! I have animals on my mind, and I don't mean the Jacksonville
Jaguars.  I'm missing my little furry masked faced raccoon buddies.  I have been officially been sent
a letter from my neighborhood association board to stop feeding them.  The weird thing is, our board only
has three members, and I'm one of them......so was this actually a letter to/from myself?
I certainly didn't know I was sending it to me....

I can understand how raccoons can become a nuisance, but it's so cool to have them actually come to see you
and trust you to toss them a snack.  Three pregnant ones brought their babies along...okay so they were
previously pregnant.  They were never aggressive & always backed away when I opened the door.
Anyway, on Sunday two "teenagers" (young raccoons) hung out at my door for a couple of hours hoping for a
late lunch.  It was sad to see them waiting and not be able to feed them.  Guess it's time for a real pet again.

On to happier subjects....  I'm working on some pet portraits and I thought I'd show you how you can get
rid of a leash with Photoshop tools & create a painterly portrait effect.

Poor Barkley is almost blind and really hated the flash.  The second one is not too bad.  First, we need to
use the crop tool to focus on the dog and get rid of as much unwanted background as possible.

The larger picture is zoomed in.  It already has a painting effect on it, so it is on two layers.  You must
edit both layers.  You can use the clone tool of nearby grass and/or the patch tool, since the background green
is blurry anyway.  Then I cloned in added grass & Voila!

PHOTO TIP: Use a leash on pet portraits if the animal doesn't want to sit still for you otherwise.
You can edit it out without too much trouble.  And pet 'paintings' make great gifts and it's time to
start thinking about gifting.

BLESSINGS!
