Something Red and Very, Very Shiny

Hi----How are you this week?  It's turning cold down here with a low of 40º this weekend---that's a mid-winter
temp for us.  Time to get out the coats & sweaters and admit that we have seasons, even in Florida.
The Jags have an "A" for excellence this week. Looked like a real NFL team with Garrard back. :- }

A couple of weeks ago I went up to Amelia Island to an Art Biz Workshop with Alyson Stanfield.
I arrived at 8:30 am and after signing in, I had almost an hour before the excellent instruction started.
The Hampton Inn was just a block off the main drag in Fernandina, and I noticed a stream of classic cars
arriving for a show.  I love strong colors, beautiful shapes & chrome----what could be better to photograph?

I cropped the image slightly to try to straighten the horizon---you get distortion with a wide angle, but
it's okay with something like these cars.  It makes the closer things larger.  You wouldn't want to use it on your mother.   Anyway,  I played around in Photoshop to add saturation and lessen light.  Then I adjusted brightness & contrast
to the extreme, literally pushing the sliders all the way right.  It created a fun, graphic look.

I started with wide shots & then went in for tighter ones like the grille, hood ornament, head lights, bumper,
logo or simply the car handle surrounded by color.

PHOTO TIP:  Try exercising your photography skills at a car show.  The owners are usually flattered that
you find their "baby" so attractive and enjoy sharing the history of the car with you.  The subjects don't move,
so you have time to compose your shots carefully and go in close for the details.  You may have to be patient
with the other classic car fans who come between you and your subject, but it's worth waiting for a really good image.

Blessings!
