FLORIDA YARD . . . ART ?

"Greetings From Florida" to you!  Bet you've never seen a Christmas card quite like this
one.  As I walked the neighborhood this morning with my trusty little phone, I took pix
of a couple of nearby Christmas yard decorations.

One neighbor has a flock of flamingos which they faithfully decorate to go with the current
holiday, season or weather---but I'm not sure I've actually seen them in bikinis or swimming
trunks.  They were definitely dressed up for Halloween, Thanksgiving and now Christmas.
It's kind of a Santa and sleigh formation.  But, it didn't really look good in the picture,
so I just tried to focus in on one flamingo.

The problem is you can't really control what the phone decides to focus on.  Mine is strictly
point & shoot.  The flamingo's head was actually out of focus, so I sharpened it & set to work
to eliminate the distractions.  Is it beautiful? No.  Is it kinda tacky? Yup.
Is it unique?  Definitely!  In fact, if you'd like to send it to someone, email and put flamingo
in the subject line.  I'd be happy to share it with you!   artisticimagesbypc@me.com

This one is kinda sad.  It gets the Lame Decorating Award (LDA) for now at least.

I was pondering why the unartistic yard art might have occurred. Maybe...
1) they're extremely short and don't own a step ladder because someone borrowed
it July 4th and a roman candle burned a hole in the first step so they had to throw it out:
2) they are regular height but can't lift their hands above their shoulders without crying out
in anguish and they didn't want to disturb any of their neighbors during the extremely
important college playoff games last Saturday; WAR EAGLE!!!
3) they have a tall dog that likes to decorate but couldn't jump any higher so it was beginning
to lose interest after successfully hanging 6 balls when a black & white cat ran right across
his yard chasing a little white dog in a red Santa hat and the poor dog's CHASE mode
over powered the DECORATE mode so he took off
4) it's the work of deranged elves who actually thought they had completed the task
in fine style.  You decide.  (If it was the dog, I'll promise to issue a EDA next week.)
Where was I?  Oh yes, photography....

You can find something interesting to shoot if you really try.  Go in for an extreme close up.
You might be surprised at what you find.  There's my self portrait below.  I just happened to
dress kinda like Santa with a red jacket & white hat, but I didn't realize it until I saw the reflection.

PHOTOTIP:  Look beyond the surface to come up with a new angle.  Yard decorations give
you new opportunities to capture creative images that are not around ordinarily.  Go on a
photo hunt.
Let me know what you find.

NEXT WEEK I want to share what I've learned from Alyson Stanfield's GO! GET ORGANIZED
CLASS.  It's ending this week.  I hope to implement the great ideas we've covered.

BLESSINGS!
