The soothing sea

GREETINGS!!
What's all that little white powdery stuff blanketing the landscape?  It's not snow, it's SAND!
Sunday afternoon with a clear blue sky, a gentle breeze, 70º of sunshine and a couple of
hours of leisure time we enjoyed the rhythmic sounds of the surf and picked up shells.
AHHHHH.

We found quite a few sea urchins, mostly devoid of their spiny spikes.  It's unusual for them
to survive the surf, and you only find them in the early spring.  This alien being in the pictures
is an empty egg case or mermaid's purse.  I thought it was from a skate (kinda looks like
a stingray) but after checking Wikipedia, I know it could be from a shark or dogfish.

I like the mermaid connection. Looks like it could do you some harm, but it just
floats around in the water until the baby or babies hatch.

I just loved the way the wet sand reflected the sky, yet retained the textures and
patterns of the sand.  Then you have the resident sea gull.  We have hundreds, but for some
reason, they are able to sense when you want to take their picture.  They turn and walk or fly
away as soon as you begin aiming even your phone toward them.  Frustrating!

But where else can you get sunburned, walk on the beach, pick up shells, go home to rake
up bags of newly fallen leaves, sneeze from the huge amounts of pollen coating every square
inch of the outdoors (ok, not the beach---there the sand wins), trim holly bushes with red berries
and admire the colorful new blooms of spring all at the same time in the first week of March ?

PHOTO TIP: If you want to travel light, take pix with your phone.  The nice thing about that is
you can easily email your images to friends or the net, and you have them on your phone to
show people in person.

BLESSINGS!
