@TPC - The Players
GREETINGS from a tired, sweaty once a year golf fan. This week is one of the PGA Tour's
biggest event here in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.....The Players Championship.
This golf course is pristine---beautifully landscaped, maintained and kept clean despite the
hundreds of thousands who come here to see the best golfers in the world.
This is a giant panoramic you see on the way in commemorating Senior President Bush's
visit last year. The cool thing is my husband & I were sitting there in the stands for this
military tribute, so we are forever preserved as a part of TPC history.
Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday the tickets are inexpensive and the players are friendly
and don't mind signing autographs. Jaguar mascot Jaxon DeVille also played Tuesday,
and you've got to give it to him for carrying his clubs & wearing that hot costume.
You can bring your camera & now cell phones onto the grounds because these are
practice/fun rounds. Wednesday there was a caddy competition. (No the players were
not carrying the clubs for them.) Tonight there's even a free concert and lots of company
sponsored parties in the air conditioned chalets on the grounds.
Local favorite & past winner of TPC, David Duval, practices on #2 this afternoon.

The infamous 17th island hole from the 16th fairway & from the stands on #17. How did
the caddies do on this hole: 111 balls hit.....59 of those went into the water...
Most of my pictures are taken with a little point & shoot Kodak easy share. A few with my
phone. WHY? Might you ask---well, I've discovered that a professional DSLR with a nice
long lens gains weight at an astounding rate over the course of hours out in the very,
very hot sun. So, I decided to travel light. Additionally, the pictures can only be used
for your personal pleasure and not for sale.
Thursday the serious stuff starts. At the end of the day you've got to make the cut.
Do or die....with The Players.
PHOTO TIP: Sometimes it's just not worth lugging around the heavy duty hardware.
Take a little camera, relax & enjoy being one of the crowd.
