Making the Deadline
GREETINGS!!! Just a beautiful day here with a cool night that preceded it. In fact, our house
was so cool that I put on a little sweater before heading out---not realizing it was about 85º outside!
Water Wiggles©
Rushing to meet a photography grant deadline----that has become my dream as of late--
to make money while giving away photography. I'm exploring some new techniques using
digital software as well as traditional media like pastel chalks and pencils. I'd also love to get
the victory over transferring photos onto watercolor paper through ink migration.
I had to go back and find my photo credits which I had eliminated from my current resume.
I guess it pays to have resumes for different jobs or submissions. This is for the Aaron Siskind
Foundation. Most grant applications are terribly grueling-----my brains starts to glaze over and
then the eyes roll back into my head.....but this was different. Not complicated at all.

Whenever you are applying for an on line submission make sure you read and follow all
of the rules carefully. Your entry will be discarded for any instructions you miss or ignore.
It seems that almost every application has different requirements. Never assume
(you know why).
The Aaron Siskind Foundation made use of the CaFE™ located at www.CallForEntry.org.
It's a great site because you can sign up for free and look at Calls to Entry that encompass a wide
variety of dates, places, subjects, media, fees & so on. After establishing your account, you can
upload 100 images. The trick is to put them into their format. I had to redo mine at
least 4 times, and I watched the tutorial! Turns out the size must be exact and you adjust the
quality to end up with the right size. When the deadline passes, the judges are able to see the
entries 1920 pixels by 1920 pixels @72. That's a pretty large screen if I do say so myself.
The Castle Door©
Then you decide which images are submitted and even in which order they are seen. You
get a little receipt showing information about what you entered. If you have limitless funds,
you can do that over & over again.
Here's hoping they like my work! Oh, yea, did I mention I'm leaving for the airport
at 4:30 (just 12 hours away)? I gotta get packin.
PHOTOTIP: Enter a contest to see how your work matches up. Join the CaFE for those who
judge work on line. Find new calls for entry. Make sure you meet all requirements.
BLESSINGS!
