NF Reunion Rocks

GREETINGS!!!  It’s hot & hazy down here in Jax, but not in a good way.
The air is filled with a bizarre pale peach colored smoke from fires just south of us.
Definitely a cause for concern.

We just returned from a fantastic weekend in Atlanta where I mingled with my homies---
or something like that.  It was my 40th High School Reunion & that sounds really old,
but it was so much fun to see everyone.  The crowd has aged well for the most part.
Lots of the people you could see across the room and still KNOW exactly who they were
immediately.  That’s kind of amazing when you think about it.  For many it’s been 10 years,
some 20 years in between.

On the other hand, there were the guys who have lost a lot of hair and/or gained a lot of
weight.  Hey, don’t get defensive---I didn’t say they looked bad, it was just harder to see the
teenager that once dwelt behind those eyes.  Yet, when you talked with them, it came
shining through.  A light went on, the connection made, memories shared & the smiles of
conspiracy spread.

Can’t tell you when I’ve had that much fun two nights in a row.  I’ve been pondering
why it was so delightful.  I don’t know if it’s the reconnecting to people I grew up with
from: R.L. Hope, Roxboro Valley aka “the pool”, Northside Highlander Elementary Band,
Brownie Scouts, Girls Scouts, Peachtree Road Methodist, playing kick the can, road trips,
riding in HOT cars or various clubs & activities at North Fulton HS.

I guess there’s just something about growing up in one place with the same neighbors,
friends & other parents who watched out for you.  You felt safe exploring in the woods,
following the creek, riding your bike wherever you wanted to or walking to the pool to hang
out.  Are there neighborhoods where people still have such a thing?  I can only hope so.

PHOTOTIP:  When you’re uncertain of the light, shoot & edit in Camera RAW format.
It’s amazing what can be saved from it that you can’t hope to get shooting jpgs.

Thanks to those who orchestrated the events.  Thanks to Terry for taking the party pix.
Thanks to my Nikon for RAW images where you can coax a decent picture from a very dark
one & Adobe for the software.

BLESSINGS!
