Valentine Gift Ideas & a photo discount

GREETINGS!  I hope you’re in the mood for LOVE since it’s just turned February.  Valentine’s Day is undoubtedly a money maker for many businesses: flowers, wine, champagne, jewelry, candy, cards and everywhere that sells any of those products from a florist to a gas station. And, you can include romantic restaurants in the mix.  (Does any country besides America totally commercialize this day?  The Christian origins might surprise you, as well as the Pope rejecting the holiday: see wickipedia.)

So, how do you give your Beloved something different from the ordinary?  It might take a little work, but it’ll give pleasure for years to come...assuming you stay together, of course.  No guarantee in this day & age.  But, it is fun to look back at old pictures of happy people.

I suggest you spend a bit of time & find a great picture (what did you really expect?) to print out and frame as a gift.  You have many options---if your photo is still on the card, just take it into Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, Costco, Sams, etc and look through them at the kiosk.  It’s not hard to do.  You can order all kinds of things.

Most have a touch screen, you have to enter your name & phone & then insert the card.  You’ll be able to look through the entire card if they are jpegs.  They don't do other files.  The machines take every card imaginable---some really tiny ones may need an adapter, which you’ll have to ask for.  These little machines are great, especially if you don’t have photo software at home.

You edit on them: crop, brighten, auto fix, add a border and choose the size you want.  You’ll be able to see what each size print will look like before ordering it.  A 4x6 is under a quarter, a 5x7 might be $1.50 and an 8x10 $3 or so.  Walgreens has the option of creating a collage---you pick several images, and it automatically puts them together in a combination of sizes that print an 8x10.  If you don’t like it, just redo the mix.  It will make different ones larger each time it does a remix.

You can choose several pictures from your most fun adventures last year---or just stick to one really nice image to print.  You may add text, so you can put “I love you” “You’re the bomb” “Awesome” ”Together Forever” "I don't really hate you".....you get the idea.  It would be great if you could make your own single folded card, but no one seems to offer that.

Of course, you can create everything from a coffee cup to an apron to baseball, of all things, but why would you?  It’ll take a while to get those and shipping adds to the cost. Some of the photo books ordered on line can be ready the next day.  Photo cards only seem to come in sets.

Walgreens has a $10 off photo orders over $20.  AWESOME!  This HALF PRICE offer runs through Saturday.  Use the" LESS10" discount code at checkout.  You’ll have to work fast.  Go for the $20 photo book if you really want to be impressive!  You can pick a theme & have it auto load from a folder of images---quick & easy.

PHOTOTIP:  You can do all these things from the comfort of your own computer.   You will have to spend time establishing an account, uploading pix, making your choices and ordering.  In the long run, it might be a time saver.  Late night and early morning are best time to upload.

BLESSINGS!
