Ecards to the Rescue!
GREETINGS! Hope you and yours are well and warm. The love fest, Valentines’s Day, is almost here. If you followed my advice last week, you’ve already found your great images from the past year and created a mini-album old-style with actual prints, framed a nice one or done the ultimate to impress your sweetheart - a digital photo album. Congrats on any of the above--good job.
Now, for everyone else....time is running out! Valentine’s is Tuesday. The snail mail may not make it there in time, so what do you do? If your sweetie has email, there are solutions on the horizon. I’ve checked out quite a few sites with free e-cards. You can use them for any occasion. A cool feature is that you can schedule when you want the card sent: immediately or on a specific day and time. You could plan out your entire year’s worth of greetings in one session!

Many ecard sites have a a membership fee of $10-$20, but they will still let you try out some free ones. The membership fee gets you a more deluxe presentation with more variety. Some inundate you with obnoxious ads, so be forewarned. A couple of the sites you will need to search for the free cards.
They're fun to pick out, and the choices are amazing. You're sure to find one with the right sentiment. Here are the ones I liked the best:
Punchbowl.com - These are unique because they are like real paper cards & invitations. They come with a colored envelope and you can change the text on each part. No fancy dancing bears or loud music. Classy. You can also customize the deluxe ones with your own photos. : )
ecards.dayspring.com - Christian based with family friendly, clean images & words.
123greetings.com - You can customize with a photo and send on Facebook.
Care2.com - You can actually help some non-profits by using them.
Hallmark.com - Our Love Tale was a favorite. Animated. Lots of Hoops & Yoyo.
Americangreetings.com (free trial), Bluemountain.com (deluxe videos), Greeting-cards.com (lots of ads), egreetings.com (animated), Ecardica.com (where you can send a daylight savings card---who knew? Who cared?)
PHOTOTIP: Allow time to visit a couple of sites, browse the cards, customize it and fill in the ‘to and from’ info. If you’re uploading an image to a card site, make sure it’s less than a 1 meg file. (72 is screen resolution, 250 for printing.)
BLESSINGS!
